So Cute Echo Park Chillingsworth Project

Ok, So it's October first, which means the holidays are just around the corner! We love Halloween and look forward to all the fun projects to do to make your home just a little more spooky. Leaves are finally starting to change and kids are back in school.....fall is upon us! I love the beginning of fall because the days are still warm but the nights are crisp and cool and the excitement of harvest time and Halloween are here. I am already thinking about all of the holidays coming up. Of course the first big holiday coming is Halloween!

Carta Bella has just released a new Halloween line called All Hallow's Eve and we have it! I enjoy the variety of patterns and embellishments this line has to offer. There are lots of fun extras you can use to embellish and spice up your home. I wanted to show this cute banner that the designers at Carta Bella had created because it is pretty simple and fun. This diecut set does require the Epic Tool which $79.99 ( I use this tool the most just because I can pull it out really quickly, cut what I need and put it away). The circles and letters they used can be cut with the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut. (I prefer the Cameo over the Cricut because the Cameo is user friendly and you can use any font you have or can find on the interent without any special software). Once you are done cutting you can use any ribbon or twine you want to pull it all together.

Labor Day just around the corner!

I was thinking about summer today and I felt like this past summer went by in the blink of an eye. I tried to think about what I did with friends and family and it felt like everything happened in just a few weeks, not three months. I remember as a child thinking"I have so much time to play, ride bikes, swim, and go to the park", and having an adult tell me "enjoy it while you can because as you get older it will fly by!" It flew by! I did enjoy all the moments in between the rushing and craziness but I sure wish I could have had a few more "Lazy days of summer".

One of the last things I will do this summer is can peaches and tomatoes. This will be the first year I have attempted the endeavor and I am very excited. I was able to get a little taste when I went to my moms this past weekend. She had purchased a bushel of peaches and I was her assistant. It was so much fun to chat and peel peaches and chat some more......We completed 12 jars and I can't wait to do my own. I am even more excited because I want to make homemade marinara sauce and my own salsa......(I am feeling super adventurous now that the twins are in first grade!) I am hoping, if it turns out well, that I can give some as neighbor gifts this fall. First taste of Fall

Although the majority of us are still feeling the heat, the new collections for fall are coming out!

 My boys are all preparing for school, which starts this coming Wednesday! I should put a little disclaimer in: I love having my boys home for the summer and we have done lots of fun things together with friends and family, but I am ready for them to go back. My twins, which are my youngest, will be starting 1st grade and I can't wait! I am so excited to have time to create and learn new things. I feel like fall is a great time to jump back into projects that were abandoned for fun in the sun.

 It's time........time to create and we have 2 new collections that are sure to get you excited for fall. The 1st which is our feature on Monday is My Minds Eye Lost and Found Halloween. I really like the muted tones and all the accessories that you can use all over your home for Halloween Decor. I will be getting my hands on this collection on Monday and I will post the fun decorations that you can create with this line. 

The 2nd fall collection will be featured Monday August 27th. It's the new Teresa Collins line Vintage Finds. I got this cute book made out of the 3x4 cards from the line from Teresa Collins Blog. I love her ides. This one is especially fun and simple.

Dog Days of Summer

I can't believe that it is already August! What a fun summer we have had. So busy with keeping kids entertained and cool. I tried to keep up with four very busy boys and I took lots of pictures of all the crazy things we did this summer. I am so excited to get back to a schedule and finally have a little extra time to scrapbook (my twins will be in 1st grade this fall)! Summer Party Ideas

We wanted to make an everyday BBQ a little more special so we decided to dress things up a bit and it was so fun to see the reaction from adults and kids alike. Most of the kids wanted to know if it was someones birthday. Everyone was just a little more excited to sit down, visit with each other and enjoy good food. Give it a try and see what kind of an experience you can make of . The decorating took us about 2 hours because we had to cut out several elements but now that it's done we can use the elements again and again! I love that you can customize everything to fit your color scheme and theme.

I purchased a roll of children's art paper on a roll at my local craft store and used that as my table cover. Then I used Doodlebug's 12x12 die-cut paper as our place mats. For anyone that hasn't tried Lifestyle Crafts (Quicktuz), it's time! There is a wide selection of die-cuts to create elements. decorations, and party favors. I have used Quickutz for years and I still love creating new projects. In this project I used the Epic Tool, LC Nesting Pennants L-CC-008, LC Trellis DC0122, and LC Rosettes DC0222. I also used Echo Park Dots and Stripes Soda Fountain and Hello Summer for the banner and paper embellishments. American Crafts Pool and Tangerine were the solid colored cardstock pieces. I also used fresh lemons, salt water taffy and orange candy slices I picked up at the local grocery store to fill the jars and add punches of color. (great budget savers!)

Summer is Here!

I think for most of the country we have already had our first real taste of summer. We have been spoiled with warm temps and blue skies and I am already in the mood to get out side and enjoy! I love the sights and smells of summer. We just showcased Simple Stories new summer line "Summer Fresh" and I love it. It's fun and fresh and so easy to use. The 12x12 sheet of 4x6 cards would make super cute card fronts if you are a card maker or just in the mood to send someone a quick note. I also like the collection kit because you get a little bit of everything. Summer time is busy but it's important to capture and document the moments as they happen. Summer is Just Around the Corner

I know that we just talked about spring, but summer is just a few weeks away! Time for picnics, fun in the sun, vacations, and so much more!

 I look forward to summer every year. I love the smell of fresh cut grass, the sun beaming in at 6 am coaxing me to get out of bed and start my day, packing a picnic and taking the kids to the lake just up the street, building sandcastles, barbeques in the evening, watching the kids run around until the last minute of daylight has disappeared, then laying in the grass and looking up at the stars. Summer is also a time to have fun creating. I love taking pictures. Photography is one of my passions. Summer can be a wonderful canvas for capturing the perfect picture. Paying attention to lighting is key. Morning and evenings are the ideal times to take pictures. The light is typically softer and warmer. Try to get outside and play with your camera.

 If you are outside when the sun is the brightest than you can try using your flash (I know that sounds really weird but if the sun is casting harsh shadows on a face than using your flash will help to brighten the "dark shadows".) You can also trying to find shade and take the picture there. Simple changes can make or break a picture. 

Of course once you take the picture you must get it to your computer and then the real challenge.....getting the picture printed! Whether you print it from home or send it off, take time to print it and tell the story right then. Take just a few minutes to write it down on a 3x5 index card, be sure to include what happened or why you took the picture, who was in the picture, and the date. So often we think we will remember and just set it aside but more often than not it's forgotten or put away until a later date and then we have lost the moment, the story behind the picture or pictures.

Spring is Here!

I am sitting in my kitchen looking outside and loving view. The flowers are out, the grass is green, the sky is blue.....It's Spring! I am so happy that spring has arrived. I am a warm weather girl, so winter, although beautiful at times, is not my favorite. I need the sun and I need it to be warm. I feel more motivated to get things done when it's sunny....like posting to our blog! Click to see more.....

I just finished adding Hello Spring by Little Yellow Bicycle and I love it! They have so many cute embellishments I think I will must have them all. Even though I am a mom of four boys, this line would still work for all of our Easter and spring pictures. I have to say that my favorite embellishment in this line is the 10 Things Flower Pot Pocket and Flowers. I think this would be a fun thing to have my boys help come up with 10 things that make us happy and post it in our kitchen. Each flower has a long stem on it that you can write a little statement or phrase and then put it in the flower pot. First I have to apologize for not posting to our blog in, dare I say, six weeks! Yikes. Well I am determined to do better on this front.
